Dental decay

Dental decay is one of the top three oral diseases that can destroy your mouth. You probably know that a dental cavity is a hole in a tooth. But do you know how a cavity is formed and how you can really prevent cavities? We at Dentist in Dubai provides best treatment For cavities. We all have a mouth full of bacteria. Sounds gross but they are supposed to be there in limited numbers. Each day some of these bacteria attach to the teeth and start to grow. This active growth of bacteria on the teeth is dental plaque.

Cause of decay

There are several types of bacteria in the plaque complex, with some causing decay. The way the process works is that as excess dietary sugar passes through the mouth the decay causing bacteria eats some of the sugar and produces acid as a waste product. The acid simply dissolves part of the tooth. Enamel is the outside layer and the strongest substance in the body. The acid dissolves the enamel into a chalky consistency that chips and flakes away. the decay makes it through the enamel layer, it then begins to destroy the dentin, which is the second layer of tooth. Dentin is chemically softer because it is a living tissue, causing it to decay more quickly than the enamel. This has the effect of hollowing out the tooth. As the decay gets deeper into the tooth it becomes larger and eventually damages the pulp or "nerve". At this point, serious pain can develop and the treatment needed to save the tooth is much more extensive and expensive. For most of the process of decay's destruction of a tooth there are NO symptoms.

How can you prevent decay

We at Dental Clinic in Dubai suggest you to do 3 things:

· First you need to see a dentist regularly. A dentist can detect decay in your mouth well before you are aware of it. Many technologies assist the dental team in detecting decayas early as possible. This saves you discomfort, time and money.

· Second you have to have good home care. Daily and proper brushing and flossing get those bacteria off your teeth.

· Lastly you MUST not have a sugar habit. What is a sugar habit? A sugar habit is anything that subjects the teeth to little doses of sugar throughout the day.

Some typical examples are sugared drinks (sodas, sweet tea, coffee, juices, sports drinks, etc.), candy, sugared gum, and even cough drops. All these type products will cause rapid and severe decay if they are in the mouth for long periods of time during your day. Here is an example: It's 0k to have a soft drink with your lunch, or occasionally have a piece of hard candy (or that piece of cake). But, if you spend your aftemoon sipping on soft drinks and eating hard candy consistently throughout your day, you will decay your teeth. Sugar habits must be eliminated by using a sugar free substitute or by eliminating the decay causing habit .
